More and more seniors are looking to hire in-home help to assist with activities of daily living. The Council on Aging offers a registry of Helpers for Seniors, a list of workers who have been interviewed and whose references are checked, DMV history reviewed, and a county-wide criminal background check performed. |
We developed this list after assisting seniors with mopping up after disasters from hiring the wrong helpers. The Council does not hire these workers, however, nor do we recommend any specific ones. We only refer these pre-screened names to seniors and their families who do the interviewing, selecting, and hiring.
Caregivers are available for day, evening, live-in, or relief care. They are willing to do a range of duties including light housekeeping, driving, cooking, personal care, and assistance with miscellaneous tasks.
The cost to obtain this list of approximately 20 - 40 prospective employees is a one-time fee of $100. This entitles the buyer to free updates (for a six month period) as needed upon request.
