The Council on Aging is proud to offer comprehensive legal services to seniors in Sonoma County, age 50 and above. We offer experienced, compassionate, and cost-effective professional legal services, emphasizing estate planning and elder law.
The discounted legal fees that we charge help to fund critical services for seniors in our community, including Meals on Wheels.
The Estate Planning Program provides complete estate planning services to Sonoma County residents, age 50 and above, which generally include the following documents:
• Certification of Trust
• Assignment of Tangible Personal Property to Trust
• Durable Power(s) of Attorney for Financial Affairs
• Advance Health Care Directive(s)
• All deed(s) necessary to transfer real estate to the Trust
• All necessary deed service, notary, and photocopying fees
We currently provide a full estate plan for a flat fee of $1,300 for an individual, and $1,900 for a married couple. Fees charged for other legal services (such a review or amendment of an estate plan) may be billed at the discounted hourly rate (currently $215 per hour, billed in one-tenth of an hour increments) or at a flat rate per document.
After meeting with you, our attorney may recommend more basic estate planning for those with more modest estates. Attorney-drafted documents begin at $250 per document for basic estate plans.
